继续我的color胡思乱想

July 18, 2008

刚吃饭时继续思考了我的COLOR幻想。有些新的想法。

1)while a gray-level natural scene combines diagnostic color, the scene can be better recognized, that is to say, chromatic cues concur with luminance to allow a viewer to recognize the scene more efficiently, but how is the role of attention in this so rapid period of scene recogniztion( short than 150ms)? Do the chromatic cues also attract more resource of attention or is it purely a bottom-up process and totally ignores involving attention?

2)when we see a color-nondiagnos natural images, we will wonder how abnormal the scene is, but why? Cause there is a prior knowledge in the process of scene recogniztion. In addition, it is also tempting to visualize that if we are born in a environment where the representation of color in human visual system is quite different from now,or the mechanism in decoding color is in another way, how we feel and recognize the color? it’s entirely possible at that case we will regard the normal chromatic scene as abnormal, our prior knowledge of the color is the vital factor.
imagine how a cat visualize this world, then a fly, then our human, inspiring:)?
Color is indeed an important property of the relevant spatial layout that mediates express scene recognition.

Maybe this gonna be my next research program…..

BTW, always to imagine and not to do some real work or computation probably I gonna ruin myself. It’s  surly very dangerous to  be a  idealist, let’s involve in real study and work~but after the  God damn issue and argument of God Read English!
